Update on the Park

Just an update of the Park and the Friends Group.

We will be taking a break over the Christmas Holidays back in January/February 2025.

We have four weeks left of working groups the last one is 11th December for our Volunteer Christmas Do to thank our wonderful volunteer team.

Things coming up:

The Carved Animals should be reinstalled soon. New bases are being designed. We have most of them safety stored in the compound.

There are another nine benches being installed in Beauchamps Meadow. The Friends applied for a grant from Wickford Town Council. Thank you very much. We will have a total of ten benches in Beauchamps.

We sadly lost a cherry tree in the avenue leading to Huttons. It was vandalised last week- why do people think its OK? But we have secured a replacement from Basildon Council Parks team.

We will be ordering ‘Snowdrops in the Green’ to be delivered February time. They will need to be planted quickly.

We have Forty Fruit trees on order to add to the Orchard in Beauchamps. probably February too. Please keep an eye on the Events Tab.

We will order the special Wildflower seeds mix for the Sand Bee Planters. The display was lovely this year. and still going strong.

Basildon Council will be planting Fourteen Mature trees in Beauchamps Meadow to replace and add to the ones that died.

(As you enter Beauchamps on the left)

We have also been offered one hundred whip trees- Wildlife Booster trees which we can plant in the Beauchamps Meadow to help Wildlife (there is a triangle patch on the right as you enter Beauchamps which is being developed for a dense shrub) These are coming in February 2025.

If you would like to help even now and again please feel free to join us Wednesday and Saturday Mornings- please keep an eye on the Events tab
